Wireless Week recently reported that the statistics and studies site, Statista, reported that mobile devices constituted 17.4% of all Web traffic, and increased nearly 60% from July 2013 to July 2014. Obviously, different parts of the world reflect different usage, or percentage increases, but internet usage on mobile devices rose from 9.4% to 15.2% July 2013 to 2014.
So, what are the take aways from this increase? The easiest answer is probably the combo of more sophisticated and easy-to-use smartphones combined with the advent of 4G data advancements. More than any other two factors, these probably are the main reasons for the increase.
Unless something drastic happens, like being to drive your PC from work to school to pick up the kids from band practice, it seems like the days of the PC are surely over and smartphones and tablets will be our computers of the future, if they're not already.
